The last time we caught up with the British pound against the US dollar we had an exchange rate of 1.5457 to contend with. But it seemed as if this week would go our way as we immediately rose to 1.5553 on Monday night.

When we last caught up with the pound against the US dollar it was worth 1.5821. Would it increase or decrease in value from that amount over this week? Things didn’t look good when it immediately dropped to 1.5648 on day one, and from then on it went from bad to worse as well.

Beginning as always with the US dollar, the British pound was starting against the currency with a rate of 1.5931. This went up marginally to 1.5945 the next day, but then it started to drop. Indeed by the 17th the exchange rate was down to 1.5783.

The pound was worth 1.5991 against the US dollar the last time we caught up with it. The first day of the new week saw it soar to 1.6043, but could it hold onto this new territory for the remainder of the week?

The opening rate for the British pound against the US dollar last week was 1.6102, but there were soon changes we didn’t want to see. For instance in just two days the pound dipped back to 1.5935.

Next let’s look at the Hong Kong dollar to see whether the British pound could get the better of it. The opening rate was 12.371 and things were looking up fairly soon after that as we got up to 12.401.

Even though the future of the Euro may still be in doubt, it is still around at the moment. Last week the pound started off at 1.1563 against the single European currency, and it was not going to get the same good results it had seen against the US dollar.
